We've tumbled a lot of rocks from across the world. These are some of the best materials for tumbling and are particularly suitable for beginners. They are the right hardness, take a good polish relatively easy, and can be tumbled together. Furthermore, they are famous for producing some of the most beautiful and striking polished gemstones known to man. Importantly, these materials aren't excessively rare and are therefore available at reasonable prices.

  • Materials include Dalmation Stone, Golden Tiger's Eye, Green Aventurine, Magnesite, Red African Jasper, Red Tiger's Eye, Rose Quartz, Sodalite, Unakite Jasper and many more! All stones being offered here are  completely naturally colored and free from dyes and alterations.
  •  A pound of this material typically contains 25 - 30 stones, with typical stones around 1 inch to 1.5 inches in length.

Botswana Agate

Botswana agate, which originates in Africa, is a classic rock tumbling material known for sharply contrasting black, grey, and white banding. Occasionally, colors of purple, orange, brown, pink, and yellow can be found as well, although the latter colors are rare. Prized for taking a great mirror shine when polished, this also a highly preferred tumbling material due to its variety of patterns and colors that can be exposed from the tumbling process.

We personally never tire of tumbling this material because each stone is highly unique from the next one, we find ourselves constantly searching to the next "perfect" Botswana Agate.

 

Easy material to polish. Takes a great shine.

Highly contrasting banding is common, resulting in a dramatic look when polished.

Due its beautiful, silky luster and dramatic golden colors, Tiger's eye is a popular stone among children and adults alike, and is a popular material for jewelry. Tiger's Eye is frequently mined in South Africa.
